Do you feel dice are necessary for Wargaming?
Yeah. I can't imagine wargaming without dice. 60%  60%  [ 6 ]
No. I think miniatures and fluff are more important. 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
I think if the system is sound, and makes sense... dice are one less purchase. 40%  40%  [ 4 ]

The cards are more for direct challenges rather than assorted randomness (such as charging)
But there is some sort of cheat mechanic to help you out if you get a shitty hand.

Taylor: yeah I never thought you were looking for right or wrong :) just opinion.

Al: yeah, that "you really got lucky" statement had more to do with the player's ability to cope with a loss than the actual perception of the game mechanic.

Yeah, the opposite occurs as well. "I really got lucky" is something I've had to admit after games more than a couple of times.

Also keep in mind that at any given point the odds of the dice are the same.

With a deck of cards the odds constantly change the more you draw the higher the odds of the cards you want. It does let you plan out your future moves slot easier. Like with Hearthstone I know i need one card but 15 cards left...I know I need to survive "x" turns to get the card I need.

I have actually never played a non dice wargame, I enjoy star wars games which use wierd dice but nothing like malifaux.

Am I willing to try it... absolutely...do I think I'd enjoy it more than throwing D20s maybe?

Wargaming in its earlier forms is often more morale-focused, with a +/- ~1 factor determined by dicing off. When in the mood for Warhammer, the game's best point is in its wonder. YMMV.

A point of related interest I've cursory knowledge of, is that I believe Spacewar! had randomized shooting vectors, but only temporarily.

Interesting topic!
